Slumdog Millionaire wins best picture at Globes

Photo: Getty Images Uplifting British film Slumdog Millionaire has won bestdrama at the Golden Globes, its fourth award ofthe night. Director Danny Boyle's film follows the fortunes of an orphanwho rises from the poverty of Mumbai's slums to reach the brink ofriches on the Indian version of popular game show Who Wants toBe a Millionaire. The film was adapted from Indian author Vikas Swarup's novelQ and A by screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, best known for 1997hit The Full Monty.
